Bringing the beach to my backyard
Is anyone else missing going to the beach because of COVID19? In New Jersey, it has become quite difficult to obtain a beach pass for the day, let alone get on the beach on the weekends. My family and I usually go to Spring Lake, NJ every Sunday for the day and we sure have been missing it. One of my favorite things to do is dine at an outdoor restaurant. So, I decided to turn my parent’s backyard into a beachside cafe.
For colors, I wanted to create the feel of a beach sunset in the evening with coral napkins, a cool grayish/blue patterned table cloth, rose gold flatware, a sea-foam and white centerpiece and gold votive holders.
For texture, I added elements of rattan through the drinkware and pendant light, bamboo with the chairs, seashells for decor and napkin rings, and beach grasses and hydrangeas for the centerpiece with a flicker of light from the candles.
It was certainly an enjoyable summer evening with loved ones. We dined on a summer salad and homemade watermelon sangria. Just enough to feel like we were on vacation! For a few hours at least…
During this pandemic, it is especially important to get creative and enjoy all of the little things life has to offer. I hope I have inspired you!
Sending love and hugs your way!
Lindsay
